Really nice crowd (including our imaginary friend JJ, our own dear Keith, taking a night off from saving the planet, and The Fiddly Family). We were a bit nervous about playing sans electrickery to start with, but soon got into the groove, as it were. The thing about missing various members on occasion is that the space created gives others the chance to shine - pounced on superbly by Fiddly in his natural acoustic environment and Tony 'Ellis' Winn who acted like a banjo player superbly. Top marks also to Helen, who in being from the folk wing of the band knew all the songs they were doing in the floor spots too. Our mole in the audience reckons there was much genuine appreciation going on at the back of the room too, and we all left much happier, if not a little tireder and hungrier, than when we turned up. Another win for the promotion-chasing Blue House squad!

Yep, we've been here before haven't we?..... "Oh no, they won't like you lot, they only like trad stuff there"...and then what happens? A great evening in front of open-minded music-lovers, that's what! Agreed, a splendid performance from Fiddly Richard; a shocking haircut from Gibb; Tony 'Ellis' Winn remembered most of the notes; Helen soared off like some blonde croon missile, always hitting the target; and me and Shane ran about and were daft. All in all, a classic that I will remember for a long time.

Second trip went much the same as the first, we did two sets this time, pimped some merch (note to self - it's always handy if someone is so impressed by the first set that they want to buy a CD that you've played more than two songs from each of the two elbuns so far....) and continued with the trying out of the new stuff - Incredible is really coming together now, Katy Did was lovely, and Risk is fast garnering critical acclaim from those in attendance whenever we air it. A particularly lovely Let's Do It Country showed up James and Hel's Gram n' Emmyloui-sms to their best effect and we raised some more bunce for Carey's Trek with Rosie . Barnes brought out his 99 year-old Gibson mandolin and played it very nicely, That Nice David Booth pattered along beautifully subtly, and our friend Keith discussed wales. As you do. . Man of the match to Fiddly yet again, I reckon.
