Taking the vibe literally, a six piece SftBH were treated very wonderfully by the lovely folk at The Headgate Theatre as we lined up sans electrickery ('part from Gib) and did a half hour in between Tony Winn's love songs and the beatific Irish acoustic folksoul groove of Andy White, who signed my twenty year-old twelve inch single and created a great laid-back vibe along with his top-bloke keyboard and accordian player. Parters broke a string, which meant we got to throw in Special Kind of Love, and the punters were enthusiastic, happy, clappy, and laughed at almost all of our jokes, including James's very good one about the steam train, stolen from Ned Sherrin's radio show during a mad dash down from a beer-related awards ceremony earlier in the day. Nice set, great vibe, brilliant venue. Hello The Pipe family! Lovely to see you.
