Not noticed a place for 'suggestions' anywhere ... can we have a proper place please ?? ;D 'View New Posts Since Last Visit' would be top of my list There are all sorts of things that this board probably should do, and 'View New Posts Since Last Visit' is definitely one of them. However, this forum has been supplied free and off the shelf by proboards, and I haven't thus far been able to make those sorts of changes. The closest we've got here is 'Show Last 25 Posts' which is near the bottom somewhere. I'll keep investigating though. Those of us that spend time on TalkAwhile have been rather spoiled by the excellent set-up there y'see...Premier League v. Nationwide Conference South.  |

As Mods for the forum, do you have any mechanism for blocking posts at all? The post we get on here that looks as it it's a foreign language.... well I thought it was some poor begger trying to communicate, that couldn't speak english... by chance my cursor landed on the gobbledygook the last time, and it was clickable, so I clicked it, it leads to a porn site. So I'm not feeling sorry for them anymore, they're clearly a moronic individual with no life.
I won't be daft enough to click on anything like that in future, but we do have youngsters on the board, and if something is clickable they will naturally be curious.

I know, and those darn things drive me nuts!  There is a way to stop them happening, which is to make the whole board 'members only', like The Ophelia Club is at the moment. Currently I just delete the naughty posts a soon as I see them, but I must confess that it is getting rather tiresome. The 'posts' are almost certainly automatically generated, and contain dozens and dozens of disguised links to who knows what (I've never clicked on any of them). I can make the whole board 'Members Only'...what should I do, Oh Bluehousers? JP |

I know that none of us here are fond of unecessary red tape, but it's great that youngsters can come here, and just to outwit the moronic lowlife that thinks it's funny, it would be worth the change. Added to which, strangely enough there was a debate about this very thing on the radio today... it seems that if you should be found with 'the wrong kind of porn site' buried in your computer.....however it got there (i.e. through a trojan horse etc) you canbe put on the sex offenders register FOR LIFE, and no appeal!! So maybe it will be worth it James, who knows where the next lot of gobbledygook may lead to What does evryone else think? Mix |

My own forum is 'members' only - only for subscribers to our magazine, which means I have a valid e-mail addy and their postal address.
I've also set it so that anybody 'registering' just gets put in a queue for 'admin' approval (me ;D ) - and, if the 'applicant' aint on our database of subscribers, then they are rejected and banned by IP address.
So far, I've had no problems at all ;D
I think any measures you could take to keep the lowlifes out of here would be worth it.

You might as well make it Members Only to post, Old Boy - if it's that important to say something I'm sure folk won't mind waiting a couple of days. It is becoming rather tiresome, isn't it?
